BCP-001: AMWA Specification Process
This practice defines three different levels for AMWA documents; Work in Progress (WIP), Proposed Specification, and Specification. It also defines seven types of Specifications. These are Application Specifications (AS), Data Model Specifications (DM), Interface Specifications (IS), Best Current Practice (BCP), Informative Specifications, Experimental Specifications and Historical Specifications. In addition to describing these levels and types, the document describes how proposals for new work are initiated, what is required to elevate a document from one level to another, and how types of specifications are assigned.
