For the first time, the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is pleased to co-sponsor this seminar that brings together production and post-production experts, vendors and users to explore the current generation of file based workflows and future expectations.
The seminar is a pre-conference event for the 2009 SMPTE Tech Conference and Expo and will begin at 1:00 PM with an industry panel presentation, followed by technical demonstration, and end with a Cocktail Reception from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. The seminar registration fee for October 26 is $250. A separate fee is required for the SMPTE Conference. See www.smpte.org for details.
The seminar panel of studio, post production and industry experts will talk about what they are actually doing today with file-based workflows in their facilities. They will also share how they are looking to improve their metadata workflow through the production and distribution process. Confirmed speakers are:
- Chris Carey, Senior Vice President of World-Wide Operations, Paramount Pictures
- Chris Cookson, President, Sony Pictures Technologies
- John Footen, Vice President of National TeleConsultants
- John Hurst, Chief Technology Officer, CineCert
- Tim Padilla, Executive Director, Digital Media Systems, Warner Bros.
- Leon Silverman, General Manager of the Digital Studio; The Walt Disney Company
The seminar will include a demonstration of MXF workflows handling essence and modifying metadata through the post production process using a variety of vendor equipment. This will provide an opportunity to see how users and manufacturers are working together on solutions to improve metadata workflow, reduce re-keying of critical information and save money. Confirmed demo vendors include:
- Adobe Systems
- AmberFin
- Ascent Media
- Avid
- Cinegy
- IBM
- Metaglue
- Omneon
- RadiantGrid
- Rhozet
- SAN Solutions
- Signiant
- Sony
The 90-minute reception will be held in the meeting room immediately following the program and demo to provide an additional opportunity for participants to discuss technical issues with vendors and speakers in a relaxed environment. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of this time to discuss and explore individual technical challenges and solutions with key individuals on a one-on-one basis.
