UPCOMING EVENT

AS-11 Introduction and File Exchange Workshop
13 March 2012, 10:00AM - 4:00PM
Channel 4 TV
124 Horseferry Road
London 2TX, UK

Overview

This event is jointly hosted by AMWA and the Digital Production Partnership (www.digitalproductionpartnership.co.uk) - DPP. With the recent publication of AS-11 and a common file delivery specification for UK Broadcasters by DPP, this session is an opportunity for users and manufacturers to understand details of the specification and how it could be implemented for use by UK Broadcasters and Production Companies. Programme delivery by file to selected DPP broadcasters will be required for some content this year and be the preferred delivery format by 2014.

AS-11 includes a requirement for descriptive metadata management, AVC Intra Class 100 video encoding, multitrack audio and handling of ‘soft and hard parted’ programming.

This all-day session will include demonstrations of a prototype descriptive metadata tool intended to enable ‘early adopters’, detail of the specification and a file ‘plug fest’. Manufacturers are encouraged to participate by creating AS-11 files in advance of the session and exchanging them in a mutually co-operative environment. Sample files, content for ingest, VTRs and suitable monitoring will be provided at the venue. There will be an opportunity to rig hardware systems the previous day (from 4pm), by arrangement. To maximise the value of the session we will also host a phone conference in advance for early implementers.

Registration

Attendance is free to AMWA members and light refreshments will be provided, courtesy of DPP and Channel 4. If you would like to attend (and have not received an invitation letter via DPP) please contact Jayne.de.ville@bbc.co.uk to reserve your space, indicating if you will be able to take part in the ‘plugfest’, either by encoding, playing or analysing files. We will then send you a participation form and attendance details. Space is limited to a maximum of 2 attendees per organisation.
